          This is the most complicated problem in the city; in our neighbourhood, it is critical. There are few houses and too many huts. Most of our Catholics live in subhuman conditions. At times modern buildings and huts stand side by side, in wonderful coexistence.

 723 families live in huts or chawls.

318 families live in houses or buildings. 

 

 

 

 765 have one room only.

105 have two rooms.

99 have three rooms and more. 

72 families share with another the four corners of a single room. 

 

 

 

 


OWNERS/TENANTS

131 families own their houses.
The rest have to pay rent.


ELECTRICITY

 

 


In the 20th century, in the most prosperous city of India,
399 have it.
642 families still have no electricity.
