GOLDEN JUBILEE YEAR
1993

(Extract taken from "Historical Highlights" published during the Golden jubilee year.)

Prologue
The history of the Holy Family Parish, (not to be confused with the church as a building), does not begin in 1943 but goes far back,
as early as the 16th century. Some historical events have been highlighted in these pages. However, emphasis has been laid on the period from 1943 to the present date.

Although no claim is made to any original research while preparing this sketch, the historical account and statistics have been compiled and collated from documented publications - the various references and sources appear at the end of this booklet.  A part of the information pertaining to this parish is from my personal knowledge, old relatives, friends and parishioners. I must also state that the data appearing in these pages is based on material made available. Inspite of concerted effort made to check the authenticity, some errors could have crept inevitably.

This effort of mine is also an expression of gratitude to my parents and ancestors through whom I received the gift of the Faith.   I also acknowledge the support, help and encouragement
extended to me by Fr. Vincent D'Silva S.J., Mr. Ramchandra Thavi, Prof. S. Kulkarni, Mr. Servilus Pereira, Mr. Caesar D'Costa, Mr. Errol Sequeira and of course, my family Yvette, Kiesler and Kyle, without whose active participation, this booklet could not
have been out in print.

Finally in Fr. Alfred Tillo's words:
"Let us thank the Infant Jesus for the similarity of birth.  He was born in a manger at Bethlehem & Holy Family Parish was born in a horse's stable".
